Hello there! Thank you for visiting my website! My name is Jessica and I’m an English teacher.
My teaching journey started with my own interest in language learning. I’ve been studying foreign languages since high school, and my interest has led to my studies in French, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, and Russian.
I know how difficult it can be to develop your language skills without getting hung up on errors and mistakes. I’ve especially struggled with this challenge myself! And as a teacher, I’ve noticed that many students achieve an excellent level of proficiency, but still feel anxious when speaking or communicating in specific situations.
At the moment, the foreign language that I speak and understand the best is Brazilian Portuguese. That’s because I was lucky to learn this language with patient family members who always listened and tried to carry conversations with me despite all of my mistakes in pronunciation, grammar, (and the list goes on!) I don’t speak perfectly and I’ll never speak like a native speaker, I’ve developed a certain confidence in Portuguese that allows me to experience life through the language.
That’s why as a teacher, I strive to create a space where students can freely express themselves and experiment with the language without fear of making mistakes. I utilize a variety of teaching methods and strategies depending on each student’s needs.

- Previously lived in Japan, China, and Taiwan
- Certified in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from the Arizona State University’s online program
- Master of Arts in Linguistics and International Cultural Studies from Tohoku University
- Love: coffee, music, enjoying nature, painting, knitting, video games, books, podcasts, etc!
- Hate: bugs!!
